Our teeth are designed to last for a lifetime but sometimes, we lose a tooth or two due to aging, accident, illness or decay. If a person is missing a couple of teeth, he will have difficulty chewing food. Worse, it can also destroy his self esteem.
If you have lost one or more permanent teeth, we can bring back your beautiful and confident smile with the use of dentures. We offer partial and full denture treatment plans and your choice will depend on your specific needs.
Advantages of Dentures
Dentures (full and partial) can improve:
- Your ability to chew
- Your ability to speak and pronounce words
- Your smile
- Your overall oral health
Dentures are very durable because the tooth portion is made of ceramic or a similar material, while the base is made of acrylic to ensure comfort when you wear it.
Full and Partial Denture Procedure
Dr. Baim will take an impression of your teeth so that your denture will fit perfectly. We will also match your denture to the shape and color of your other teeth. While your denture is being created, you’ll be given a temporary prosthetic device.
Patients who require full dentures will need to wait until all their teeth have been extracted and the gums have fully healed before their denture is created. This takes approximately 3 months. For those who require partial dentures, they will be given replacement teeth that are bonded to a base that is attached to a framework made of metal, which in turn is attached to your natural teeth.
For full dentures, we work closely with oral surgeons in the area to provide full and partial dentures that are supported by an implant.
Flexible Partials
Some of our patients do not like the rigid metal base in their dentures and we may recommend flexible partial dentures as an option. They are more comfortable and more natural-looking. Another benefit of flexible partial dentures is that making it is quicker than traditional dentures, and the material it is made of (nylon resin) doesn’t break.
